Join Our Hygiene Drive Before Time Is Up!

Updated: May 23, 2023

We’re two-thirds of the way through our Hygiene Drive for National Teen Self-Esteem Month, and the outpouring of community support has deeply touched us! Our generous donors have already filled more than 10 boxes with supplies for local foster youth. But time is running out. The Hygiene Drive ends on May 31, and we’d love to collect even more supplies to donate.

In a time of instability and upheaval, the last thing anyone wants to worry about is when they can make it to the store.

Before we dive into how you can help, though, we have a quick correction to make. In our previous email, we indicated that the foster teens we're helping with the Hygiene Drive would not have access to hygiene supplies without your donations. That was a mistake. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare provides those necessities. However, with your donations, they can hand hygiene supplies directly to foster kids right away instead of giving them vouchers to purchase those supplies. We apologize for the misunderstanding and will gladly answer any questions you have about donations you’ve already made.

Despite our initial error, you can rest assured your donations will make a difference in a foster teen’s life! In a time of instability and upheaval, the last thing anyone wants to worry about is when they can make it to the store. The supplies we collect in our drive will allow foster youth to arrive at their new housing with necessities. Small comforts like this can make a difference in stressful and traumatic times.

As a reminder, we are looking for the below supplies:

  • Soap (unscented preferred)

  • Deodorant

  • Face wash

  • Loofahs

  • Makeup remover

  • Period products (e.g., tampons, pads, menstrual cups)

  • Makeup

  • Hair cleaning products

  • Hair styling products (e.g., gel, hairspray, hair oil)

  • Dental care product

  • Perfume

  • Cologne

  • Masculine body spray (e.g., AXE)

  • Feminine body spray

If you’d like to help, you can drop off items in our collection bin at 391 N. Ancestor Place, Suite 100, in Boise. You can also mail a check to Fostering Christmas at that address or make an online donation. 100% of monetary contributions will go to hygiene supplies. All product donations must be brand-new and unopened.

Remember, the Hygiene Drive closes on May 31. With only a week left to make a difference, now is the time to act!
